Many who have inadequate or no insurance go broke or bankrupt, you cannot afford another car so lose your job, children suffer loss of social and sporting involvement, the stress often causes marriage break up and suicide; and years of social security pension payments and homelessness, a massive cost upon government and taxpayers.

It is overdue for governments to address these total costs of crime and force courts to take them into consideration in sentencing. The criminal must be held accountable for all damage costs they incur upon home owners and pay full restitution. If not by cash, then calculated on the weekly basic wage equalling a week inside jail to the value of the weekly basic wage, until the total equals the cost of the damages they caused.
